Convert Bank of America Statements to Excel
Convert Bank of America PDF statements to Excel format. Works with BofA checking, savings, credit cards, and business accounts.
Converting BofA Statements
Bank of America makes it easy to download PDF statements from online banking, but those PDFs aren't great for analysis. If you want to track spending in Excel, import transactions into accounting software, or prepare data for your accountant, you need the data in a different format.
We've optimized our converter for Bank of America's specific statement layout. Upload your PDF, and you'll get back an Excel file with each transaction on its own row—date, description, amount, and running balance all in separate columns.
Which BofA Accounts Work
We've tested this with all the common Bank of America account types: Core Checking, Advantage Plus, Preferred Rewards, business accounts, and credit cards. Each has slightly different formatting, but our parser handles them correctly.
The credit card statements include purchase date, merchant name, and transaction amount. Business account statements preserve the additional detail fields that BofA includes for commercial customers.
How to Get Your Statement PDF
Log into Bank of America online banking, go to your account, and look for the Statements section. You can download PDFs going back several years. If you need older statements, BofA's customer service can usually provide them.
Once you have the PDF, upload it to our converter. Processing takes about 30-60 seconds depending on the statement length. Download the Excel file and you're ready to work with the data.
What You Get
The converted Excel file includes these columns: transaction date, description, withdrawal amount, deposit amount, and running balance. For credit cards, you'll see purchase date, posting date, merchant, and transaction amount.
Dates come out in proper Excel date format, so sorting and filtering work correctly. Amounts are formatted as numbers, which means your formulas and pivot tables will work without converting text to numbers first.
Common Uses
Most people use the converted data for budgeting in Excel, importing into QuickBooks or Xero, or preparing documentation for taxes. If you're self-employed, having your Bank of America transactions in a spreadsheet makes it much easier to categorize business expenses at year end. Bank of America's Built-in Export
BofA does offer a CSV export in online banking, but it has limitations. You can only go back about 18 months, the field options are limited, and the format requires cleanup before it's useful in most applications.
Our converter works with the full PDF statements, which means you can process older statements and get more complete transaction details. If you're comparing methods across multiple banks, our complete bank statement conversion guide covers the full process regardless of which institution you use.
Security
Bank statements contain sensitive information. All uploads to our converter use 256-bit encryption. We don't store your files after conversion—once you download the Excel file, both the original PDF and converted file are deleted from our servers.
